Nominations open for Premier’s Award for Victorian Senior of the Year 2008
Do you know a senior Victorian who is making an extraordinary difference to their community? Why not nominate her or him for the Premier’s Award for Victorian Senior of the Year?
To be eligible, nominees must be residents of Victoria aged 60 years and over and meet all criteria in the nomination form. The 2008 Awards will be presented at a reception at Government House on 3 October 2008. Read more about Victorian Senior of the Year

Seniors Rights Victoria opens to promote the safety of older Victorians
A new education and legal service to help prevent and respond to incidents of abuse, mistreatment or neglect of older people has been officially opened by the Minister for Senior Victorians, Lisa Neville.
Seniors Rights Victoria operates a confidential help line to provide support, advice or information to seniors, their family, friends or professional carers. Phone 1300 368 821. For further information see Seniors Rights Victoria
Seniors Speak Up
The Victorian Government is seeking ways to involve the Victorian community in developing policies that respond to population ageing. The Ministerial Advisory Council of Senior Victorians will conduct consultations in May and June 2008 to allow members of the community to contribute their ideas about how to make Victoria a better place for older people.

Living Longer Living Stronger Annual Conference 2008
The Council on the Ageing (COTA) Victoria annual Living Longer Living Stronger Conference will be held on Tuesday 22 July 2008. The Conference will focus on continuous improvements in Living Longer Living Stronger as well as examining broader issues around strength training for older adults.
